Oscars 2014: BEST & WORST dressed

This Year’s Oscar 2014 red carpet best dressed and worst dressed almost didn’t happen due to rain. This Sunday’s biggest Hollywood event wasn’t rained in and now I am here to summaries the good, the bad and the interesting. It’s hard to say that a dress is “ugly” but I can say that a dress it not intended for this event. But then there are cases where I look at the dress and just wonder, why?  This is a personal preference. I was watching the red carpet live on E! Entertainment and Kelly and Ross saw a dress and I was like wow that is an ugly dress and they both loved it. So remember this is my own personal Oscar 2014 red carpet best dressed and worst dressed.

Oscars 2014: BEST & WORST dressed

For my Oscar 2014 red carpet best dressed and worst dressed, I will list the best dressed then the worst. Make sure to also read my Oscar 2014 red carpet best makeup, hair and nails look article.  One thing about the worst dressed is that it was very hard to find a worst dresses this year. The majority of the dresses were superb but there were others that were less I would say “Oscar” oriented and not for the red carpet. I will comment as to why I choose the few dresses as the worst dressed later in the article.

The BEST dressed Oscar 2014

In my opinion the best dressed actress in this year’s Oscar 2014 is by far Lupita Nyong’o wearing a blue Prada gown with the perfect plunging neckline. This is a dress so exquisite and beautiful and in my humble opinion no one topped that dress.

These are my  other picks for this years Oscars 2014 Best Dressed. It was very hard for me to pick out of the mass, since this year there were so many beautiful dresses that I would even personally put into my closet. From left to right Portia De Rossi that is wearing a beautiful Naeem Khan gown, Lupita Nyong’o (mentioned above),  Giuliana Rancic is wearing a beautiful Paolo Sebastian gown which reminded me of my wedding dress (mine was shorter) and last one is Julia Roberts that is wearing a beautiful black lace Givenchy.

My Other choices of the best dresses on this year’s Oscars 2014 red carpet are: Cate Blanchett who is wearing an Armani dress that was seen on Fashion Week. I personally am a huge fan of details on a dress and some bling or shine. This dress knocked 10 years off Cate Blanchett perfection.

Sandra Bullock is wearing an Alexander McQueen beautiful timeless navy blue dress that enhanced her beautiful curves. This is one of the best red carpet dresses that she has ever worn up until now. It compliments her skin tone and her beautiful dark brown hair.

Angelina Jolie looks beautiful in this metallic Elie Saab dress. This is something that I would see her wearing on any red carpet event. It’s kind of a classic angie dress since it sticks to her love for black and white clothing.

Naomi Watts is wearing this beautiful snowflake white dress by Calvin Klein. I actually have a top like this and usually wear it with a bold silver statement necklace.

Amy Adams is wearing this beautiful Gucci dress that is body fitting almost bodycon. Due to her very fit body, her dress looked beautiful on her.

Calista Flockhart rocked it in the beautiful white embroidered Andrew Gn dress which to a point did remind me of Naomi Watts dress.

 

Kristen Bell wore this beautiful icy white Roberto Cavalli gown. Seems that many choose a black or white outfit this year.

Lady Gaga is wearing Versace Couture. I personally love this dress but find that the “scarf” and the hair are totally a miss for this dress. The dress required a different hair style and different accessories. this is a beautiful artdeco dress that just didn’t get the proper hair or accessories and in that way killed the dress.

Last but not least, Jenna Dewan-Tatum is wearing this breathtaking sparkling Reem Acra gown. I love this dress and it looked amazing on her. Jenna in the past few red carpet events wears the most amazing dresses and gowns. Keep an eye on her she always looks her best.

Oscars 2014 WORST dressed

Now for the sad part of the Oscars, the Oscars 2014: BEST & WORST dressed. I will explain as to why I found placed this dress under this category. In no particular order here are my few choices.

Anne Hathaway is wearing Gucci. Even though the dress is nice, I would say that it’s a bit too “strict” to even “rock grunge” for the Oscars. I know that she was just a guest at this event but this is not an Oscars dress. She looks like some female tribal warrior.

Jennifer Garner is wearing Oscar de la Renta. I really didn’t like this dress or better said I loved the bottom part of it but the top part was shabby quite a disappointment from Oscar de la Renta. Those small straps just made it worse, it just made the dress look cheap. I find that the dress did nothing for Jennifer and the color also totally washed her out.

Glenn Close is wearing Zac Pose gown which looked like a potato sack that was dyed black. The dress did nothing for Glen it even aged her since it was too dark for her very pale complexion. Maybe if this dress was on someone else maybe it would look better but this dress doesn’t do any justice for Glenn.

The worst gown, dress or was it my bed linens was worn by Veerle Baetens. When I saw it I seriously was like what is that. Veerles superb figure was washed out and lost behind those rags.

You can see that Elsa Pataky has that baby glow and looks beautiful but the dress was a poor choice. I think that it made her look more overweight than pregnant. I think that the material of the dress and color are amazing and suit her fantastic, but i think if it was sown differently that it would have complimented her on her pregnancy figure which does suit her.
