Us normal woman, usually worry about real flaws, such as, being over weight, cellulite, acne, very oily hair and/or skin, psoriasis, big bum, dark under eye circles, flabby hands, “beer belly”, small breasts, burn scars, …etc, and not imaginary “flaws” such as, curly hair and short nails.
Sitting down with a few of my friends for coffee, I decided to read the local press and I gave one of my friends the Croatian Cosmo.
I was reading about some local news, when one of my friends told me that I just had to read this article in the Croatian Cosmo, she was in shock and couldn’t believe it. She showed me a picture of 6 woman and asked me do I see any “flaws” on them. I said no, they are really good looking woman, model like (such as the model on the cover, below). Then she showed me the headline.
(Croatia’s June edition of Cosmo)
“In love with their flaws!” I was like, what flaws? All of these woman wear size 4 or less?! Highlighted points were:
Former Croatian Miss Universe “I have a big bum, I can say it’s a “JLO bum”
“My short nails make me self conscious ”
I have rickety knees
Flaw, my curly hair
I hated my “prominent ears”, current well know radio and TV host
I’m to skinny
These sentences left me curios I just had to read the article and see why someone would consider curly hair and short nails as a flaw, I mean I understand someone complaining about their ears, knees and having no boobs or bum, but hair and nails?! really!
In short, here is what was written;
1) Former Miss Universe for Croatia, I have a JLO ass, I was like wait a minute, if you had a real JLO ass, there would be no way in hell that you would be a former miss anything. She claimed that her friends may fun of her because she had a JLO ass. Looking at the pic JLO still won the cake!
Basically in short this was a lie! My ass is bigger than hers and I ain’t feeling self conscious.
2) Chick #2, A woman can never be rich enough, thin enough or have long enough fingers?!?!? Huh What ?!? Men love long fingers and that is why I hate my nails, I am still confused. I was like wait, that makes no sense what so ever! I would get it, if you are complaining about your nails for example if they were bitten to the bone or if you had short fat fingers, but this was like beyond irrational.
3) Actress, I hate my rickety and uneven knees. To be honest she was complaining about her knees, I get the knee complex, I really do. Ironically she wore pants on the day of her photo-shoot which made me wonder if she accepted her knees… hmmmm
4) Caucasian Chick #4, felt self conscious about her curly hair since it was constantly fizzy?!?! Seriously? What about all the other international woman of different races that deal with fizzy hair on a daily base! You cannot feel self conscious about curly hair, just buy a de-fizzer spray or shampoo. Come on is this for real???
5) Famous TV & Radio host, quoting “I felt self conscious about my prominent ears, well when I think about it, they really aren’t prominent or big, I just felt as if they were!”
Huh?! ummm seriously? Are you trying to make fun of people that really have to deal with this on a daily base? I don’t get it?!
6) Last but not least, Chick #6, She felt as if she was too skinny. Ok, to make it very clear you can be between size 4 – 6 and be “flat” (no bum or breasts) and I understand that you feel self conscious about this. I had many girlfriends that honestly dealt with this issues, while I was squeezing my voluptuous curves into that tight dress. But, looking at chick #6, she had breasts size 34B and a normal bum.
Some of you might, by now, understand why I wrote this article.
The article is a joke and insult to all normal woman that are really struggling with real issues such as, prominent ears, acne, cellulite, trying to stay fit…etc.
Why didn’t they choose 6 women with real flaws which they have dealt with. Why didn’t they show women of different sizes (between 0 to 14), and not just between size 4 to 6.
I get that even well know people have flaws but please choose those that are struggling with wight loss, acne, psoriasis, big bum, dark under eye circles, flabby hands, “beer belly”..etc and show me how they accepted their “flaws”
I really have to say that this article in Cosmo was a piece of shit and hope that in the future they will choose really women with real flaws and not “perfect” women with fake “flaws”. I mean seriously come on, Miss Universe complaining about her “JLO ass”. Honey you obviously do not know what a JLO ass is, do you!
Don’t let anyone tell you that your slight “imperfections” are flaws!
