MUA LUXE Velvet Lip Lacquer Atomic & Reckless

Today I am sharing with you a makeup review and swatches of MUA LUXE Velvet Lip Lacquer in Atomic and Reckless. You might have read my previous review of  MUA LUXE Velvet Lip Lacquer in Kooky. If you haven’t make sure to read them too. I have been using these lip lacquers in many of my makeup tutorials, such as how to get red ombre lips one of my most watched lip tutorials. You also might know that I keep repeating this, the MUA lp lacquers are the perfect DUPES for the Lime Crime velvetines. If you find that giving $21 for matte lips is just plain too much, then this is ideal for you. I will keep this review short so it’s pleasant to read.

The MUA luxe velvet Lip Lacquer in Atomic and Reckless comes in a muted glass like tube, which is a very light and easy to transport. It comes in an elegant packaging. The lip lacquers glide on with ease with the doe foot applicator and you can apply them with any lipstick brush. If you have dry lips this might be a bit drying. I do recommend that you make sure to first apply a lip balm, wait for it to get fully absorbed by your lips, wipe off any access and then apply the lip lacquer. This will give you a smooth application. If you are applying it with a lip brush, make sure it’s a bigger and more fluffier brush so that it comes on easy. Thin makeup brushes might not be the best choice in this case. The best application does come when using the doe foot applicator.

When did swatches for this makeup review of MUA velvet lip lacquer in Atomic, and comparing it with the other red shaded ones; Atomic is an orangey red lipstick which is more red than orange. It has a warmer undertone and it will make your lips look fuller and bright. The shade Reckless is a true red shade with a cool more blue undertone. This will give you those pin-up lips and is ideal for those kind of occasions. When the lip lacquer dries it becomes, matter, very long-lasting and kiss-proof. You can see this in my makeup demo video. The lip lacquer dries in seconds and if you want to build up the product I do recommend to apply thin layers and let each layer to dry. I also recommend that you do not close your lips until the lip lacquer has fully dried. If you decided to close your lips to fast, the lip lacquers will end up patchy and sticky. Once the product dries, avoid any additional moisture to the lips since this will help speed up the wear time and the lip lacquers will end up crumbling. If you lick your lips nothing will happen and the lip lacquers will not transfer if you kiss someone.

I have tested this MUA luxe velvet Lip Lacquers and can confirm that if you are just drinking normal water and drinks, the wear time is around 2 – 3 hours. It will be long if you apply a lip liner under. If you are eating (anything oily) the wear time will be 1 hour or less, a lip liner will help with the longevity in this case too. The pigmentation is amazing and I use these on all my makeup shoots since it’s true to color and look amazing in  pictures. For the price of £3, you get the ideal drugstore friendly dupe. If you aren’t bothered by re-applying this product then this is ideal for you. I know that I wear these all the time and have no problem re-applying after I eat. I just honestly, do not want to spend $21 on a lip lacquer, no matter what the wear time is. I am looking forward to new darker shades and hope to see them this fall, I hope!

  • make sure to apply lip balm and remove any excess of lip balm
  • best results with doe foot applicator or use fuller lip brush
  • dries fast, work fast
  • do not close lips before it dries
