Cinema Secrets Foundation Swatches Review

Cinema Secrets 5-in-1 Ultimate Foundation Palette

First time I heard of Cinema Secrets 5-in-1 Ultimate Foundation Palette was quite a while back. Before this foundation, I used my Mehron Celebre PRO HD cream foundation and Graftobian HD foundation. They were my ultimate favorites and always in my kit. The reason I tried Cinema Secrets foundation was because it came as a recommendations from my makeup artist friends. Since then I prefer as a makeup artist to stock this guy in my kit, permanently. If you read this post to the end, I really quickly compare this foundation to a few other foundations I have.

Cinema Secrets 5-in-1 Ultimate Foundation Palette

The company claims for Cinema Secrets 5-in-1 Ultimate Foundation palette are that the formula of the foundation offers a second skin like finish while offering light to full coverage, depends on how you apply it. This foundation can cover any skin discoloration, birthmarks, burns, acne and even tattoos. The best thing about this foundation is that it doesn’t contain mineral oil, lanolin and petroleum products but it does offer very high pigmented components. This foundation is expected to outstand very humid climates and is also waterproof and it will not cake or crease during the entire day. If you are a animal friendly makeup artist then you will love this foundation since it’s not tested on animals.

Cinema Secrets Foundation Makeup Review

For all my makeup review I out products to a test. I would like to mention the thing I most like about Cinema Secrets Foundation. This foundation offers true light to heavy coverage, you just have to thin it the correct way to get the most out of it, but remember that this is not a liquid foundation. Creams and liquids all behave and require different methods of application and setting. The only foundation prior to this one, which offered something remotely close to second skin was my Illamasqua Skin Base liquid foundation. Cinema Secrets foundation not only offers a beautiful finish but covers most if not all flaws and discolorations without even color correcting, depends on the flaws of course. If this foundation is applied correctly, it will not look thick or cakey, nor will it crease. I personally love medium to heavy coverage in my foundations. The foundation is waterproof and sweats-proof, this puppy is here to stay, if set correctly. However, If you do have oily to very oily skin it behaves differently and will require proper setting to make it resistant and transfer proof, so a good primer and set it properly is a must for oily skin. Oily skin is well known to breakdown any and all cream foundation, no matter what. Cinema Secrets foundation is silicone based and due to that it will outlast most foundation. You can see various PRO makeup artist use this foundation is commonly used on brides, performers, HD TV (such as the TV show girls next door) and in HD photography. You can also use it as your everyday foundation.

Cinema Secrets Foundation Swatches

The hardest thing is choosing your shade from the Cinema Secrets 5-in-1 Ultimate Foundation Palette. I would recommend that you see online swatches of the product or go to a shop which sells Cinema Secrets to see the shades so that you can find your perfect palettes. If you are unable to get your hands on the Cinema Secrets prior to buying the foundation, I recommend you buy multiple samples from Camera Ready Cosmetics. If you do not want to buy samples, you can try to use the Cinema Secrets foundation chart below which is somewhat helpful, it explains the shade to a good degree. I would also recommend the palette which five shades. Feel free to tell me your shade in MAC terms and I will try to help you find the palette which suits you best.

Comparison: Cinema Secrets VS Graftobian VS Mehron

My comparing between Cinema Secrets to Mehron and Graftobian, most cream foundations are similar but I have broken out from some while I have not from other foundations.  When using my Graftobian, I had no breakouts. When using Mehron, I broke out like crazy, not sure why, but it has happened. Graftobian cream foundations are wax based foundation and I have had them oxide on my oily skin, not sure why this happened but it did. I prefer Cinema Secrets finish and texture over Graftobian. Mehron on the other hand is  silicone based but it’s more emollient than Cinema Secrets.  The reason I had a love-hate relationship with Mehron is that it didn’t work the same on all my clients. When I used this product, I had breakouts. The reason this happened was because this foundation is very hydrating and not really intended for oily skin. Comparing the three foundation as a makeup artists I would honestly prefect Cinema Secrets, but the other two, Mehron and Graftobian aren’t bad, but I just prefer CS. As a MUA the more you work, the more you find products which you work better with, not that anything is from with the other brands but you work better with some and less with others.

    Hi,
I am using MAC liquid foundation studio finish in NC45. I would like to try Cinema Secrets foundation and would like to know what shade is comparable to NC45 in MAC.

    Appreciate your response.

Hello and thank you for the detailed information. I am n20 in Mac and n25 cover fx custom cover drops which shade would be a good match for me?

    • Smashinbeauty

CINEMA SECRETS changed their 5 in 1 palettes, I would look into the 200 and maybe 300 (the darkest shades) series.

*Please note the darker pigmented foundations show oxidation over time when exposed to air. Since Cinema Secret’s Ultimate foundations are a natural mineral based product, crystallization can occur on the surface. However, when mixed, the crystallization will no longer be visible.

    Greetings Beauty Guru Smashing Beauty,
I am a NC44 in MAC (warm skin tone with olive undertones). I want to have one pallet to custom my color (winter and summer).
Thank you; your time, attention and perspective is greatly appricated

    • Smashinbeauty

CINEMA SECRETS recently changes their 5 in 1 palettes, so based on the new changes I would recommend 400 series (should cover NC42-44)

*Please note the darker pigmented foundations show oxidation over time when exposed to air. Since Cinema Secret’s Ultimate foundations are a natural mineral based product, crystallization can occur on the surface. However, when mixed, the crystallization will no longer be visible.

I reviewed this as one of the things that Ive loved form CameraReadyCosmetics and glad to see you luv it too! Yaay:) Yours do seem WAY more emolient for some reason though. Mine are pretty dry in the pan and I have to work them pretty hard thats why i always ended up using a beauty blender with them…urs look so soft and shiny in the pan !! either way..loved the video and luv the finish of these. Love the lighting in the video btw..what do you use for lighting? love my Mehron too. Ive tried hte graftobian correctors but havent tried their foundaiton as yet. Im actually eyeing the MaquillagePro one now …CRC is having sale tomorrow so Ill be having my eyes peeled lol.
    Thanks for the review smashinbeauty!

    • Smashinbeauty

Using a beauty blender is the next best tool to be honest. Summer time they are more emollient, while during winter then tend to “dry” up a bit. Heating them up on the back of your hand for a minute or two is a must 😀
MaquillagePro is on my list too! Must check out the CRC sale tomorrow 😀 Love that site!
Got some new lights (3 lights) and still working around it to get the best lighting.. who would have known it would be this hard to get the most natural looking lighting..
