One of my new favorite products is the NYX Cosmetics Color Correcting Concealer Palette, so today I’m writing up a review. I am not sure if you read my article about the importance of color theory as a makeup artist. I even made a color theory video. If you haven’t I strongly advise you watch the video and even watch my the importance of light as a makeup artist. These two videos will help you learn how to apply your makeup. This is something, which I learned in school and now I decided to share this with all makeup lovers. If you would like to know now to use this product specifically, I will be writing up an article about how to color correct with this palette.
Review NYX Cosmetics color correcting concealer palette
Today I am only writing up a short review of this NYX Cosmetics color correcting concealer palette, just to let you know how well it passed my test and if I would use it in my personal or pro kit. I got the NYX Cosmetics Color Correcting Concealer Palette a while back and it was not a gift, but rather I bought it because I always wanted to see how well this palette was compared to other drugstore brands. The product was buzzing for a few years and I still believe that it is a big deal in the makeup industry, but is the buzz real?
NYX color correcting concealer palette swatches
Many, when they see this palette, just walk away. But this is not the case if you read my how to color correct (PRO tips) then you will learn in a few simple minutes how to do it correctly. If done correctly, you will not even need foundation. All the colors in the NYX Color Correcting Concealer Palette, check out the swatches, cancel out colors and even out your skin. It is used to camouflage, hide, correct and conceal any flaws. The palette contains six shades: yellow, mint green, purple, peachy-pink and two neutral shades, a light pink and peach neutral shade. You can see the swatches below to see the small and yet barely any noticeable difference between the two. Each shade is used for multiple purposes and the colors can at times be combined.
NYX Cosmetics color correcting concealer palette
This NYX Color Correcting Concealer Palette comes in one shade. It can be used on most skin tones. I would not say on all since for richer skin some of the tones would need to be richer and darker. In my opinion, this palette very fair to medium skin tones. This palette will not work for certain medium to rich skin tones. For rich skin tones, it is missing certain shades. I am not sure why they didn’t make a second palette for medium to dark skin. The quality of the pigment is very good for a drugstore product. To colors are buildable and long lasting. It is also lightweight. However, if you do not prep your skin properly there is a good change this product, like any other product, will cling to dry skin and look patchy.
Details NYX Cosmetics color correcting concealer palette
I have been using this product for over a year and can say that a little goes a long way, as you can see on the pictures, you do not need a lot of product to achieve good results. The colors do not fade or show through once you apply foundation over. Just make sure to apply the color correctors and let it dry a bit. Now, as I wrote earlier, you can use this product alone and even out your skin without ever using your foundation. I have done this multiple times with this concealer palette and the results were amazing. If you have acne skin, this formula will not break out your skin. If you have dry skin, make sure to prep your skin first with a face cream and then wait 5 minutes before you apply this product. Don’t be fooled that because it is cream it will hydrate your skin or slide off, it won’t do either. Always set your foundation when you are done. If the colors come out on your skin looking ashy or white, you are not using the NYX Color Correcting Concealer Palette correctly or the shades are too light for your skin tone.
