Cupping Facials aka facial cupping therapy

Recently I read an article at The Hollywood Reporter, and facial cupping treatments are among the most popular anti-aging treatments in Hollywood right now. Celebrities are under a lot of pressure to have superhuman glowy and poreless skin for HD camera. Seems like they have all been cupping right before the red carpet and I expect to be reading more of this since the Oscars are around the corner. Many celebrities have started this facial cupping treatment three months prior to major events such as the Oscars, and they have claimed that it was skin altering.

“like sending your face on vacation, finding it a boyfriend and buying it a really great dinner.” – Kate Beckinsale

What is cupping?

What is Cupping? Cupping has been around since the late 3000 B.C. It has been around since the Egyptians. The practice is loved by many because it works. It reduces fevers, decreases pain and vertigo, relieves menstrual pain and even alleviates constipation. Cupping originally was done on the body, but now it has moved to the face. Using it on the face is one of the most popular anti-aging treatments. This treatment is nothing new. Many of you also know that it leaves hickeys behind for days. So some of you are thinking right now, what I am going to be walking around with hickeys on my face? There are no hickeys left behind. They use finger-size glass beakers with rubber suction bulbs on the ends. This helps keeps the hickeys away.

Celebrities and Facial Cupping Therapy

Before Facial Cupping Therapy, many celebrities have tried many treatments which have worked to keep them look fresh. Kim Kardashian swears by the Vampire facialWhile Victoria Beckham used nightingale droppings treatment to keep herself looking fresh. Katie Holmes has used snail slime creams for youthful skin. I have to admit, so have I. While the most disgusting of them all was a trend was kitty litter used as skin exfoliant which was promoted by Nicole ‘Snookie’ Polizzi. Celebrities have done many crazy treatments in the past to help keep themselves looking youthful. Cupping facial therapy has been loved by many celebrities such as Kate Beckinsale who claims it feels like you sent your face on a vacation. Other celeb supporters are Gwyneth Paltrow and Michael Phelps.

Cupping as an anti-aging treatment

Vogue magazine wrote about cupping and questioned if it was the best low-tech anti-aging treatment out there today. Cupping therapy improves skin circulation, encourages lymph drainage, tones tissue that is flaccid and relaxes tightness; and it increases the diffusion and receptivity of skin cell nutrients, stimulates collagen and elastin, and restores new skin tissue. Some of you might ask, why do celebrities do this treatment 3 months prior to a big event, well because you need a minimum of six to twelve weekly sessions for the results to stick around. I know that sound expensive, but in reality, you can find cupping treatments starting at around $24. The Vogue journalist that wrote the article claimed that she saw instant results. Her skin was tighter, pinker, plumper and her jawline were lifted. The irksome fine lines on her forehead had taken leave, and her eyebrows even appeared slightly higher. She felt it gave her face a five-year nap look.
