The Catrice Beautifying Lip Smoother reminded me of one of my HG lip products the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector but at a much more affordable price, so I just had to buy it and test it to see what I get since the brand described that the product would be very similar to the Clarins lip perfector. I know that many brands out there have something similar to this product but Clarins lip perfector steals the cake. So, was I happy with this product?

Catrice Beautifying Lip Smoother

The makeup review product Catrice Beautifying Lip Smoothers is part of the lovely lips fall / winter 2014 makeup collection, which I have already written about. When I first saw and read about it I was very much looking forward to it but I was only able to get my hands on 2 shades, even though in the collection they claimed there were suppose to be three shades. Catrice claims that this product visibly evens out fine lines on the lips for flawless results in three subtle colors.

Catrice Beautifying Lip Smoother

The packaging is very similar to Clarins, simple and also has that soft sponge applicator on top. Catrice’s lip smoothers have an extremely pleasant scent, which in a very positive way remind me of something sweet, like cupcakes, but without being overwhelming. The texture is identical to Clarins, creamy and smooth. Once applied on the lips, they feel hydrated and smooth and your lips do look “evened out” and the color and product does not set into the natural creases and fine lines of the lips. I would say that Clarins product is a bit “thicker and more opaque” while Clarins gives some color but it not as opaque, but still gives natural “dewy” lips without looking too glossy since in reality this product was not intended to be hydrating but rather a more pleasant gloss. The longevity is not as long as Clarins but Catrice Beautifying Lip Smoother last longer than I expected.

Catrice Beautifying Lip Smoothers

Catrice Beautifying Lip Smoothers, comes in three shades (see the swatches below) at a very affordable price, they have a very pleasant smell and taste. I love the simple design of the packaging. This product was not intended to hydrate the lips but does smooth out the lips texture when applied and lasts quite long for a lip-gloss. Down side is the color choice which is not to impressive, one of them looks very natural on my lips but the second one I bought actually is to light and washes out my natural lip color. Overall, even though this will not hydrate your lips, I think this is a very good dupe for Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector. It gives that same (short term) effect without that high-end price. For personal use, a must in my private kit, reapplying a few times during the day will not stress me out.
